2004 Community-based Entrepreneur Development Pilot Demonstration Projects

  • Community Showrooms and Iowa Sales Network (.pdf file), sponsored by the Southwest Iowa Coalition and Wallace Foundation for Rural Research and Development to organize and develop an electronic network of artisans and crafters who display Iowa made products window displays in participating communities.
  • Mount Pleasant Area Business Incubator (.pdf file), sponsored by the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance, to organize a broad-based partnership team including representatives from Iowa Wesleyan, Southeast Iowa Community College-SBDC, ISU Extension and local business leaders to create a business incubator / entrepreneurial center to assist startup businesses.
  • Networking and Support for Rural Entreprenuers (.pdf file), sponsored by National Catholic Rural Life Conference, to collaborate with Iowa Network for Community Agriculture, ISU Extension, and local development corporations to identify local assets, participants and opportunities for creating local community food system networks in a five county area of west central Iowa including.
  • Northeast Iowa Economic Development Team (.pdf file), sponsored by the Allamakee County Economic Development Corporation, to organize a six county collaborative of diverse interests to initiate a train-the-trainer entrepreneurship program and to host MyEntre.Net training in the local six county area of Allamakee, Clayton, Delaware, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek.
  • Western Iowa Grape Growers Entrepreneurial Skills Development, (.pdf file), sponsored by the Golden Hills Resource Conservation and Development District, to develop the entrepreneurial talent, capacity, and networks for a creating a more effective customer oriented marketing system for wine and grapes.
  • Wright County Entrepreneurial Planning Consortium, (.pdf file), sponsored by Wright County Economic Development Corporation, to conduct planning meetings with a broad base of community participants in the major communities of Wright County for purposes of identifying and implementing the most effective strategies for developing entrepreneurs in the county.
